I. Morphology
Virgula correctum exists, unusually for this family, primarily to confess. The black glass integument matches its predecessor, Bluetooth 5.0 and the Siri microphone both carried forward unchanged, but a physical clickpad ring now surrounds the touch surface, restoring the tactile anchor the previous generation removed and every operator immediately missed. A dedicated power button and a mute button join it, addressing complaints so precisely that the naturalist suspects a design team that spent six years actually reading its mail. The charging port migrates from Lightning to USB-C, aligning the specimen at last with the standard the rest of the product line was already adopting.
II. Behavior
Swipe still browses; a click now selects, and the two modes coexist on the same surface without contradiction.

The accelerometer and gyroscope of the previous generation, installed for a motion-gaming ecosystem that never arrived, are simply gone, and their absence is not mourned. A letter to the Society, sent some five years before the correction shipped, is claimed by Dr. Erasmus Gull, F.Z.S., to have “called this exact correction.” This naturalist has searched the archive for it at some length and has not located it, filed, referenced, or otherwise evidenced.Gull attributes the letter's absence to "an oversight of the clerks." The clerks, when asked, recall no such letter and no such oversight. The correction, in any case, arrived on Apple’s schedule rather than Gull’s.

The pattern repeated well beyond this genus that year: Amazon’s third-generation Fire TV Voice Remote reintroduced its own physical d-ring after a touch-only detour, Roku’s Voice Remote Pro had simply never abandoned physical buttons in the first place, and Sony’s own Bluetooth remote stayed conservative throughout. Multiple manufacturers arrived, independently, at the same conclusion the operator had been stating plainly for years: give me something to press. This specimen is Apple’s answer to that consensus, six years late and, on the evidence, worth the wait.
It became the standard remote bundled with every Apple TV from the 2nd-generation 4K in 2021 onward, and was also sold separately at $59 to operators still stranded with the glass original, an upgrade many purchased without complaint.
V. Field Notes
To hold this remote for an hour is unremarkable, which is as pointed a criticism of its predecessor as the naturalist can offer without raising his voice. The species name correctum was not chosen as an insult. It is taxonomic honesty: a specimen whose entire contribution to the lineage is admitting, carefully and at some expense, that the last one got the hand wrong while getting the ear right. Knowing which complaints to act on and which to quietly keep is harder than inventing something new. This specimen kept the voice command, the touch surface, and the rechargeable battery, and removed only what had actually failed.
