Callers to the archive are invited to sign below, with remarks. Verified signatures are transcribed into the ledger by the Naturalist's own hand, at intervals, and at his discretion.
The Naturalist is aware of what becomes of surfaces on which the public is invited to write; he has seen the walls of Pompeii, and of nearer establishments. He extends the invitation regardless.
